Whoa, did you even know that there's now Major League Pickleball (MLP)? With 12 four-person teams, three 3-day tournaments planned for 2022, a purse of $100,000 for the winning team in each of the 3 events at each tournament, and the finals to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network? Now that's prime time!
The MLP President even rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange last Wednesday and the NYSE's boardroom was converted to a pickleball court for a fun exhibition game involving Zane Navratil, Rob Nunnery, Anna Bright and Lina Padegimaite.
The inaugural MLP tournament takes place this weekend in Austin, Texas. Matches begin on Friday 6/3 (7:30am to 8pm MT), continues on Saturday (7:30am-8pm with quarterfinals at 4pm MT), and closes on Sunday 6/5 (9am-1pm and 6-9pm with semis at 9am and finals at 6pm MT). Early rounds can be viewed on the MLP YouTube channel or their Facebook page. The finals will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network!
If you're planning to attend the SSPA Social on Sunday, be sure to set up your DVR in advance! Maybe we can get local sports bars to tune in for future tournaments....
