OUR MISSION

To enrich the lives of Steamboat Springs, Colorado area residents and visitors of all ages, abilities, and socio-economic groups through pickleball and tennis. We do this by providing premier tennis and pickleball facilities; robust recreational and training programs; and innovative engagement of underserved families, adaptive athletes, seniors, and other social cohorts.

OUR VISION

The City of Steamboat Springs Tennis and Pickleball Complex is nationally acclaimed as a public

recreational treasure for its facilities and programs. A new Pickleball Center and upgraded Tennis

Center will provide everyone more ways to enjoy quality recreation with family and friends, leading to

improved mental and physical health, increased sense of community and, of course, fun!

HISTORY

The Steamboat Tennis & Pickleball Center has grown tremendously from 2015-2019, due in large part to the explosion in pickleball participation. Two outdoor tennis courts were converted to eight pickleball courts in 2017, leading to even greater demand for dedicated indoor pickleball courts as well.

The Court Sports for Life Foundation (CS4L) was founded in October 2019 to take on the development, operation and maintenance of the entire Tennis and Pickleball Complex, which would consist of the existing Tennis Center and a new Pickleball Center with both indoor and outdoor courts, all on land to be leased from the City of Steamboat Springs. CS4L was granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in April 2020.

This proposal was endorsed by the Steamboat Springs City Council on January 7, 2020 and the final contract will be "read" in two City Council meetings for public comment this Fall. In the meantime, the Building Project Committee has been hard at work examining different site plans, creating schematic designs, researching cost-effective and low-maintenance construction techniques, and conducting civil engineering studies.

FUTURE PLANS

We plan to raise funds privately to build a new Pickleball Center with up to twelve indoor and six outdoor courts, social areas, pro shop, offices, and storage. Under the continuing management of the current concessionaires, Loretta and Bill Conway, the Complex will offer premier facilities and exciting programs for adults and youth, residents and visitors, at prices at or near current public levels.

CS4L cherishes the goals of the Steamboat Tennis Association and looks forwards to continue to partner with the STA to support the youth of Routt County. Similarly, we will continue to collaborate with the Steamboat Springs Pickleball Association to meet the needs of their members, from the design of the new facility to the introduction of new programs and events.
